Things have changed at BP&A and I wanted to give you an official update.
We ended 2017 as a firm with 31 clients from federal, state and county officials from Tyler all the way to Fort Worth. We had a great company. We were having fun as a team of ten serving our clients well.
In December 2017, I took a leap of faith following my heart to run for Congress to replace my former boss of over 10 years, Congressman Jeb Hensarling.
It was an adventure I will never forget being the only woman on the GOP Congressional runoff ballot in TX in the open seats and being the only person in the entire US endorsed by the Vice President during the primary season. I don’t regret a minute of it. We raised almost a million dollars and people believed in me. It was humbling.
Ian Stageman ran my company as my managing Vice President during the six months I plugged myself in my Congressional race that I never saw coming and ran it so well. My clients were so understanding and even if they had to make a change, we did it on great terms.
Since I ran for Congress in 2018, we finished our year getting our remaining 13 clients across the finish line of the general election. It was a good way to finish out the year and we served them well. I had the distinct privilege of walking with four of our 5th Court of Appeals candidates as their general consultant and helping my friend Ron Wright for Congress get across the finish line for TX-06 as well as our State Senator Bob Hall.
Our biggest joy as a firm was a victory getting Van Taylor to Congress in TX-03 after serving Van’s campaigns since 2015.
What I have discovered about myself through the process of building my firm from 2015 to 2017, running my race for Congress, and the aftermath of that race is that I LOVE Congressional politics. It is my passion and I missed the day to day of following everything going on – on Capitol Hill when I was running such a big firm with so many demands for my attention.
I have never done politics for the money or for my name recognition, I have always worked in this field to support the people that I love and believe in and to “do the work of the ministry” as Senator Phil Gramm and Congressman Jeb Hensarling used to remind their staff to do. The people that work with me in the political consulting field know that about me. Sometimes it is to my own company’s detriment, but at the end, I have to follow what is in my heart to do.
We have made the decision as a firm to focus in on our main passion moving forward – which is Congressional politics.
We are taking a larger role with Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) working more tasks involving his political operations and continuing his fundraising (which by the way, he had the best first quarter of any TX Member in the Delegation outside of Will Hurd and was the top GOP freshman in the nation in fundraising for the first quarter). It is an honor for Ian and I to serve this great leader every day.
I have taken a new role which I started in January as the Campaign Manager, GC, and TX fundraiser for Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27) which makes me really happy. It is a district similar to Congressman Hensarling’s and Michael is such a great citizen leader that has been raised up for such a time as this. Our team is so excited about serving him way into the future. He also had a great first quarter.
We will take one – if not several – competitive Congressional races this election cycle in TX and will have the trained and talented team to do it.
You will still see us helping J.J. Koch for Dallas County Commissioner District 2, since we are so proud of what he is doing for Dallas County. If our previous clients in county and state government ask us to serve in the future, we will definitely consider it as we believed in them before. We are not saying “no”, we are just refocusing.
Our team is still together just in a little different form and we are excited for the 2020 election cycle.
TEXAS is going to stay RED and we are thrilled to pull more votes out of the Congressional districts that we will be working in to see our clients win with larger margins and for President Trump to get re-elected with a strong TX win.
If you are thinking about running for Congress, if you would like to talk to us about being the finance team, the campaign managers, or for me to be the general consultant for a race in TX, we are here for those conversations.
I am here to raise up the next generation of GOP consultants for our great state and to see more solid conservatives get elected or re-elected to Congress.
(I am also going to be writing more and teaching the Bible more since I won’t be running 30 clients).
Out of the ashes of our lives, God makes something beautiful.
We are truly seeing something beautiful emerging here at Bunni Pounds & Associates.
Thank you for walking with us in this journey. Thank you for believing in us. We are here to serve.
For TEXAS and the great USA 🇺🇸,
